What is CBD and why is it in my cosmetics?
CBD (cannabidiol) is a natural compound extracted from the hemp plant, without any psychoactive effect. In cosmetics it is used because it interacts with the endocannabinoid receptors that the skin itself has, helping to regulate it from within: it controls excess oil, may calm irritation and acts as an antioxidant against accumulated environmental damage. It has no psychoactive effects, does not alter mood and has no contraindications with the usual care routine. It is simply a plant active with a more specific action than most conventional cosmetic ingredients.

You don't have to abandon your routine: CBD cosmetics complement it. The difference lies in the depth of action. While many cosmetics only act on the surface (hydrating or covering), CBD works on the mechanisms that regulate skin behavior: sebum production, inflammatory response, and oxidative stress. The result is skin that not only looks better but functions better. If you've been using products for a long time without seeing consistent results, or if your skin is reactive and easily irritated, CBD cosmetics often make a real difference.

Everyone, but it is especially useful for four specific profiles: people with oily or combination skin (regulates sebum without drying), sensitive or reactive skin (calms without aggression), athletes who need muscle recovery (cold and hot effect creams), and people with tattooed skin or scars that require specific nourishment. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using any new cosmetic, including CBD ones. Avoid these cosmetics if you are underage.

It depends on the product and the objective. Cold or hot effect creams act in minutes; the thermal sensation is almost immediate. To experience the benefits on the skin (hydration, sebum regulation, texture improvement), you need consistency. The first visible results usually appear between 2 and 4 weeks of regular use. CBD is not a quick fix for the skin, but an active ingredient that progressively improves its function. Like any serious cosmetic, it needs time to demonstrate its potential.

For skincare products (creams, balms, oils…), daily use, integrated into your morning or evening routine depending on the product, is ideal. Cold and hot effect creams can be used occasionally before or after exercise, or when needed for muscle tension or fatigue.

Bath bombs are for occasional use (1 or 2 times a week as part of a wellness routine is more than enough). There is no risk of topical "overdose," but using more than necessary does not speed up results.

The key is skin preparation. Always apply to clean, slightly damp skin as open pores absorb active ingredients better. For body creams, massage in circles until fully absorbed, especially for thermal effect creams, where massage activates the sensation.

Lip balms are applied directly when you notice dryness or as a protective layer before going out. Avoid applying heat-effect creams to areas with open wounds or acute inflammation.

They can be a useful ally, although it is not a medical treatment. CBD has documented sebostatic action and regulates sebum production, one of the main factors contributing to breakouts. In addition, its anti-inflammatory action can reduce redness and irritation associated with acne. What it does not do is replace dermatological treatment in cases of severe or cystic acne. If your acne is mild or moderate and you are looking for a more natural option than products loaded with aggressive active ingredients, CBD cosmetics are a reasonable alternative. Start with fragrance-free products to minimize any irritation.

Isolated CBD is pure cannabidiol, nothing else. Broad-spectrum CBD retains other natural phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids from the plant (without THC), which work synergistically to enhance the effect of cannabidiol.
